Lt. Col. Erin Burns
Arkansas National Guard
Erin Burns currently serves as Legislative Liaison for the Arkansas National Guard at Camp Joseph T. Robinson in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Erin supports over 8000 members of the Arkansas National Guard by coordinating directly with federal and state elected officials to advance strategic initiatives on behalf of the Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard. Erin also advises senior leaders of the Arkansas National Guard on federal and state policy and legislation. Prior to his current assignment, Erin served as Chief of Staff for the 189th Airlift Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas.
Erin joined the Arkansas Air National Guard in November 2004 through direct commission in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he served as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for the 189th Airlift Wing. Over the course of his career, Erin has served in multiple roles. He served as a logistics officer where he was responsible for the tactical employment, administration and training of logistics personnel in the 189th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Erin took command of the 189th Comptroller Flight in January 2016 where he served as principal advisor to senior leaders on financial matters and was primary coordinator of financial policy. Erin was selected for squadron command in 2019 and took command of the 189th Force Support Squadron in January 2020 where he led the squadron in supporting over 1000 wing personnel across education and training, customer service, fitness, lodging and military readiness. Erin has served overseas in Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Erin obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Central Arkansas in 1997 and a Juris Doctor from the William H. Bowen School of Law in 2001. Prior to serving full-time in the Arkansas National Guard, Erin worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Pulaski County and then Chief Legal Counsel at Pine Bluff Arsenal. Erin and his wife, Stacey, have been married for 26 years and have three adult children. Erin and Stacey reside in Maumelle, Arkansas.
