Standard Lithium and Equinor Set to Receive Up to $225 Million in Federal Support for Arkansas Lithium Project

The U.S. Department of Energy has selected Standard Lithium and global energy leader Equinor to receive up to $225 million in funding as part of a national initiative to strengthen the domestic supply chain for battery materials. This funding will support the development of Standard Lithium’s Southwest Arkansas Project, a large-scale lithium extraction venture focused on producing battery-grade lithium from Arkansas’ vast brine resources.

The federal support is part of a broader $2.8 billion effort to expand U.S. battery material production and reduce reliance on foreign sources. For Arkansas, it represents significant economic opportunities, with the potential to attract new industries, create jobs, and position the state as a key player in the growing lithium market.
