Lithium promises dividends for state

Arkansas has long been looked to for what we could harvest from the ground. Agricultural products like soybeans, rice, poultry and timber have long been the backbone of our state’s economy. However, as the world races to embrace renewable energy and electric vehicles, the future driver of our economy could shift far below our surface soil. Lithium, the resource essential to producing the batteries that power everything from smartphones to electric cars, has quickly become one of the world’s most vital resources. While the U.S. has relied on foreign countries and even adversaries like China for a steady supply, Arkansas’ recently discovered lithium deposits could change that and help our state enter a new era of transformational economic growth.
