Adam Mitchell

Vice Chairman, Citizens Bank

Adam Mitchell has an extensive background in the banking industry with over 20 years of experience. He most recently served as CEO of Citizens Bank. Before joining Citizens Bank, Mitchell worked at Simmons Bank, where he held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer. In this role, he oversaw branch performance, staffing, service, and sales delivery for over 190 locations across seven states. He played a key role in Simmons Bank’s growth and acquisition strategy, integrating acquired banks and their staff into Simmons’ operations​.
Mitchell was appointed CEO of Citizens Bank in April 2021, succeeding Phil Baldwin. He initially joined Citizens Bank as President and Chief Lending Officer in 2018. His leadership has been instrumental, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he mobilized efforts to facilitate PPP loans for small businesses in Arkansas​.
Adam Mitchell is actively involved in his community, serving on the advisory board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the board of USAble Life Corporation, Arkansas Health Group, the Little Rock Regional Chamber, and the Arkansas State Chamber. He has also been recognized for his contributions, receiving the Living & Giving Award from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in 2017​.
Mitchell graduated from Hendrix College in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and has furthered his education at the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking and the Wharton Leadership Academy​.
