Colonel (COL) Anthony Q. Sanders began his military career in 1993 by enlisting in the Mississippi Army National Guard as a Private Second Class. He received his commission from the Arkansas Army National Guard’s Officer Candidate School in August 2000 and was subsequently commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Field Artillery.

A native of Carthage, Mississippi, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Mississippi State University in 1997. He holds two master’s degrees: a Master of Arts Degree from Webster University in 2014 and a Master of Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania in 2020.

COL Sanders has served in a variety of positions to include two combat deployments in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from 2004-2005 and 2008-2009. He is an Active National Guard Officer who currently serves in a dual capacity as the J3-Director of Military Support for the Arkansas National Guard and as the Brigade Commander for the 87th Troop Command.
COL Sanders has received numerous awards and decorations including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Combat Action Badge just to name a few.
