Colonel Ryan L. Workman is the commander of the 189th Maintenance Group, 189th Airlift Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard, located at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. As
Commander, Col Workman is responsible for over 300 maintainers and is directly responsible for the management of 16 C-130H/J/AMP aircraft, supporting the Wing’s
Formal Training Unit and the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve’s Command Test Center missions. He executes an annual flying hour budget of over $15 million and is charged with direct oversight of all group maintenance, training, and scheduling to fulfill
state and higher headquarters taskings.
Colonel Workman was born in Nacogdoches, TX and graduated from Texas A&M in 2000, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science. He was commissioned upon graduation and graduated Undergraduate Pilot Training from Laughlin AFB and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX in 2002. Col Workman transitioned to the Arkansas Air National Guard in 2011, where he served as a Drill-Status Guardsman C-130H Instructor Pilot. When he was selected for a full-time position, Col Workman served as C-130H instructor pilot, Current Operations Chief, Assistant Chief Pilot, 154th Training Squadron Director of Operations, the Legislative Liaison for the AR National Guard, and Commander of the 154th Training Squadron.
He is a Command Pilot with more than 3,300 hours of military flying time in the T-37B, TC-12B, C-130E, and C-130H variants. Col Workman has flown missions in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and NEW DAWN, with 970 combat hours.
Colonel Workman is anchored by his family. He has been married to Charity Workman for 26 years and they have two kids, daughter Callie (21) and son Wyatt (18).
