Colonel Tim Dean

Arkansas National Guard

Colonel Dean proudly serves as the Director of the Human Resource Office (HRO) for the Arkansas Army National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters, Camp Joseph T. Robinson, North Little Rock, Arkansas. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and oversight of personnel management, full-time manning, and human resource initiatives that directly support the readiness and operational effectiveness of the Arkansas Army National Guard. 

Colonel Dean, a native of Jonesboro, Arkansas, has dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Arkansas Army National Guard. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in January 2004 and has since served in a wide array of leadership and staff positions. His early career included a combat deployment to Baghdad, Iraq, where he served as a Platoon Leader and Assistant S3 with the 875th Engineer Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He later commanded the 1037th Mobility Augmentation Company and held key leadership assignments at the battalion, brigade, and Joint Force Headquarters levels. 

Significant assignments include serving as Recruiting and Retention Battalion Commander, AGR Manager, and Deputy Director of the Human Resource Office. He assumed his current role as Director of the HRO in February 2025. 

Colonel Dean is a graduate of the Engineer Basic and Advanced Courses, Intermediate Level Education – Common Core, the Advanced Operations Course, and the prestigious United States Army War College, where he earned a Master of Strategic Studies. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Arkansas State University and a Master of Public Administration from Webster University. 

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and numerous state and federal service ribbons, including the Arkansas Emergency Service Ribbon (with three bronze diamonds) and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Silver Hourglass and “M” Device). 

Colonel Dean and his family reside in Arkansas, where they remain active members of their community and the Arkansas National Guard family.
