David Mitchell

Ozarka College

David Mitchell serves as the Division Chair for Applied Science and Technology at Ozarka College, which operates campuses in Melbourne, Ash Flat, and Mountain View, Arkansas. In this role, he works closely with students, faculty, college administration, and community stakeholders to develop and maintain both career and technical education (CTE) and general education programs, with a strong focus on providing high-quality, accessible learning opportunities across the region.

He has been instrumental in the development of Ozarka’s Agriculture, Welding, Machining, and Skilled Trades programs and played a key role in the establishment of the college’s Technical Centers in Ash Flat and Mountain View. In addition to his academic leadership, David serves on various institutional committees and is a Criterion Team Lead for the college’s accreditation efforts through the Higher Learning Commission.

David holds a Master’s degree in Biology with an emphasis in aquatic ecology and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, both from the University of Central Arkansas as well as an Associate of Arts from Ozarka College.

Deeply committed to the power of education to transform lives—particularly in rural communities—David and his wife, Shelia, who is the Principal of Timbo Schools, are actively involved in volunteer efforts related to disaster relief and food distribution. Their daughter Echo is currently a junior at the Schedler Honors College at the University of Central Arkansas. The Mitchell family enjoys traveling and spending meaningful time together.
