Dr. Connie Wilson

Southern Arkansas University

Dr. Connie Wilson serves as the Vice President for Advancement at Southern Arkansas University, where she oversees the university’s initiatives in Alumni Relations, Foundation management, and Development. Prior to her current role, she held several leadership positions at SAU, including Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Director of the Educational Leadership in Administration and Supervision program. Dr. Wilson also co-chaired the Faculty and Staff Professional Development Committee, where she launched and facilitated the Mulerider Lead, Excel, Advance, and Develop (L.E.A.D.) program, which is a cohort-based leadership development initiative. She’s worked extensively on redesigning the educational leadership programs and served on the team that developed and implemented SAU’s first Ed.D.

Her contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the Auburn P. Smith Service Award, the Spirit of SAU Award, and the Student Affairs Director’s Choice Award. Earlier in her career, she was named Teacher of the Year twice in Louisiana and received the honor of Parish Teacher of the Year. She has multiple publications and has presented at conferences at the national, state, and local levels. Prior to her time at SAU, she served as an English teacher and Assistant Principal in Louisiana.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, Jason, and their two daughters, Sammie and Lauren.
