Shanda Hunter

Shanda Hunter is currently the State Government Affairs Manager for Arkansas at Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO). Based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Shanda is responsible for government relations within the state and serves as the company’s liaison with elected officials and their staff members. She works closely with SWEPCO’s regulatory, federal and external affairs, corporate communications, operations and customer services groups to achieve positive outcomes for stakeholders.

Shanda began her SWEPCO career last August when she joined the corporate communications team. She quickly made an impact in support of SWEPCO customers and has been a strong advocate and trusted voice with stakeholders in the Northwest Arkansas region and beyond. Shanda served SWEPCO’s Fayetteville District, providing on-site media relations support and leading public relations efforts across Arkansas and the Fayetteville District territory.

Shanda’s career is built on storytelling as a multimedia journalist with 20 years of experience in television news across Northwest Arkansas, Texas, South Dakota, Florida and Tennessee. She later explored opportunities in business, corporate communications and marketing.

Shanda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from South Dakota State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. She is an FAA-certified drone pilot and a current participant in the Leadership Arkansas program.

Shanda and her husband, Chase, along with their two children, Henry and Violet, are proud to call Fayetteville, home.
