Her career in the defense industry spans more than a decade at East Camden’s Highland Industrial Park. Her leadership experience includes mentoring staff, advising site directors on employee and community engagement, coordinating corporate events, and providing policy guidance. Sonya has also gained valuable experience through prior roles in safety, health and environmental programs, and corporate communications.

Reflecting on her work, Sonya shares, “I love helping employees, engaging with the community, and the fact that no two days are ever the same. The defense industry is vital to Arkansas, and I am enriched by the smart and talented employees I work with daily. I truly feel fortunate to work for a defense contractor that provides meaningful jobs in my home state. The mission most industries located in the Highland Industrial Park share –the defense of our nation and our allies –is something I’m proud to support.”

A lifelong South Arkansas native, Sonya has built both her career and community ties in the region she proudly calls home. Born in El Dorado, raised in Magnolia, and now residing in the Harmony Grove community outside of Camden, she is a passionate advocate for the “Golden Triangle” area.

Sonya is an alumna of Magnolia High School, Southern Arkansas University Tech, and the University of Arkansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Beyond her career, Sonya serves as Deacon Chair and Pastor Search Committee Member at First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado. She is a current board member of the Arkansas Aerospace and Defense Alliance and served as an inaugural board member of the Camden Downtown Network.

She and her husband, Bill, recently celebrated 31 years of marriage and enjoy camping and spending time with their five children and five grandchildren.
